Q: How do contribution levels during this recession compare to previous ones?

A: There may be fewer large donations being made, as people watch their dollars. In regard to existing commitments, contributors are still expressing a desire to fulfill them, although they may ask for extensions on deadlines so as to ease their own cash flow challenges. A recent study showed most donors still want to give, albeit at a reduced level than previous years. It suggested they're actually more loyal to groups they previously supported. One group we're aware of actually saw an increase in donations by simply stating: "You know the issues you're facing? We're no different. As you make decisions about where your money is going, please consider continuing to support us, so we can continue to support those who need us."
